Stacy Stoltz devised Walk A Mile, a performance about family connection and healing, and she is performing the stories she has collected from her own parents.
“I wanted to meet them in the past. Feel the weight of their lives. Find out why they are…who they are. Grow my empathy for them,” says Stoltz.
Erasing the Distance is thrilled to have Walk A Mile as part of SPARKfest® 2017!
Below is a portion of a story Stacy collected from her father:
“Still going to the VA I go, at least a couple times a month. Social workers, psychiatrists I don’t what they’re called…they’re coming out to uh…look at my clutter because of the fact that…I know I’m uh, ya know I’m a hoarder I…I have a hard time gettin’ rid of stuff. And…I wanna have some help, ya know at one time we had some really nice parties here. And now we don’t have anybody stopping over our house ya know I feel bad – I feel bad for the kids too ya know your sister and brother…they didn’t wanna invite anybody over to this house because of the way it looked all the time.””
