IGNITE: Planning for Success

This past Saturday, a group met at the Erasing the Distance office to have the first planning meeting for IGNITE 2018.

IGNITE, an annual celebration of Erasing the Distance event, is continuing to grow. Last year, we had over 100 guests at the Irish American Heritage Center, enjoying dining, dancing, and bidding on auction items to raise funds to support our mission.

This year, we look forward to more guests, food, and fun. We have the place and time set, so save the date. More details to come!

Last year, IGNITE 2017 featured a story about a woman who struggled with mental health issues and her faith. After the powerful performance, the crowd witnessed the teller, a Chicago preacher, come forward to break the anonymity and share her experience. She communicated how healing it was to tell her story and how important it was to watch her story be told by another person. It was an evening that confirmed the importance of our mission, using the power of performance to disarm stigma, spark dialogue, educate, and promote healing surrounding issues of mental health.

With Erasing the Distance board, staff, artistic company, and clinical company coming together and pledging their commitment at IGNITE, you can experience the growth of Erasing the Distance first hand.

See you at IGNITE 2018!
