Dominican Residency Performances
After six months of working with and within Dominican University, the final performances of the residency are here!
The show, Erasing the Distance: Dominican, Chapter Two, was directed and shaped for the stage by Interim Artistic Director Heather Bodie.
“This one-hour show features 10 stories and is the result of a fall course I taught on the process of building documentary theatre. I introduced students to the method we use at Erasing the Distance. It has been an incredible experience and I am so grateful and so proud to have been surrounded by such a dedicated and talented group of people,” says Bodie.
Performances of Erasing the Distance: Dominican, Chapter Two are open to the public. Tickets can be purchased through Dominican for $17. Tickets for the preview performance are available for a reduced price of $12.
Performances take place in Dominican’s Martin Recital Hall, 7900 Division St. in River Forest.
The true stories surrounding issues of mental health were shared and collected by members of the Dominican community. Typically, Erasing the Distance stories are performed by professional actors. This residency is unique because Dominican students and faculty are performing.
More About Erasing the Distance Residencies
The first Erasing the Distance residency at Dominican took place in 2008 and was led by Brighid O’Shaughnessy, Founder and Artistic Director Emeritus of Erasing the Distance. We were thrilled to be invited back and are proud of the production Bodie built with the students, staff, and alumni of Dominican.
Throughout fall and winter of 2017, Custom Programs Manager Jana Ross has also been leading a residency at the School of the Art Institute. Learn more about both the Dominican University residency and the residency at the School of the Art Institute in our Two Dynamic Residencies post.
